Ingredients
1/4 cup Gobind bhog rice or basmati rice (rinsed and soaked in enough water for about 15 - 20 min)
- 4 cups of almond or soy milk
1/2 cup date palm jaggery (chopped)
1 small Indian bay leaf (tej patta)
1/4 teaspoon cardamom powder

1/4 teaspoon GoodLyfe Project Licorice Super Root powder
Chopped almonds, cashews, and raisins as desired (optional)
Directions
Pour milk into a heavy-bottomed pan and place it on low flame.
Stir occasionally and allow the milk to come to a boil.
Let the milk simmer for about 10 minutes. Stir often.
Drain the water from the rice and add it to the thickened milk.
Add tej patta and cardamom powder.
Allow the mix to simmer on low heat till the rice grains are well cooked. (Mash a few grains to check if they are well-done)
Keep stirring to ensure that the rice grains don’t stick to the pan.
Switch off the gas after a few minutes.
Add the chopped dry fruits and mix well.
After the mixture cools down a bit, add the chopped date palm jaggery and licorice powder.
Mix well till all the jaggery dissolves.
Transfer the kheer to a serving bowl and garnish with grated nuts.
Serve the kheer warm or chilled, as per preference!
Recipe Note
Pro-Tip If you like your kheer to taste sweeter, you can add more date palm jaggery. If palm jaggery is not available, you can substitute it with sugarcane jaggery.
